On Wednesday 7th February a group of students visited Sussex University for two special lectures on Holocaust Memorial Day.

Philippe Sands, the first speaker gave an erudite presentation on the two lawyers who developed the legal concepts of genocide and crimes against humanity, but lost their families in the process being murdered by the Nazis, as were those of the speaker himself.
A powerful and challenging survivor's story was given by 87 year old Susan Pollack who lived through both Auschwitz and Belsen, and is one of the few people left alive who went through selection by Dr Joseph Mengele.
