Our student, Olivia Tomlinson has had her animated short film 'Mono' selected for the first ever Young Artists Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy. The show consists of work of young artists aged 7-19 from schools all over the UK.
Olivia's film was one of only 139 artworks selected for the exhibition out of 6,200 submissions. The film can be seen on the online exhibition, and will also be shown at the Royal Academy itself from 14th July to 4th August 2019. Olivia has been studying 3 A Level courses; Fine Art, Photography, and Film Studies!

Olivia’s excitement was summed up as she said, “I really wasn’t expecting it to happen but it’s a very exceptional opportunity. I’d describe myself as a quiet person so I never expected something big like this to happen to me! My friends and family are really proud. It’s such a massive confidence boost, you always think someone else’s work is better than yours. Showing my work at the Royal Academy is an absolute honour”
Our Head of Visual Arts, Catriona Muir said “We are immensely proud that the creativity, and determination of Olivia has been recognised by the RA in their selection of her animated short film for inclusion in their first Young Artists Summer Show. Her versatility and quiet ambition is evidence in the diverse body of work produced. She was also awarded the Special Contribution award during our Visual Arts and Media Awards event this year. We look forward to seeing how Olivia's Artwork moves forward in the future, she should not be underestimated”
We would like to say a massive CONGRATULATIONS to Olivia on such an incredible achievement! If you would like to watch Olivia's short film 'Mono', click
