My name is Kai and this is my first experience of work and general life in the college.
I have come from Bohunt School Worthing to do my year 10 work experience. Work experience for a year 10 can be frightening on the first day because it is such a change compared to school. Some of my friends have gone to vets, gyms or even fire stations to get knowledge on what life may be like after school.
The experience that I have got from this week, as it is my last working day for a couple of years now, is that people should go into a work field that they enjoy or they will for sure regret it. For me this would be anything to do with computers, hopefully, IT work but you can’t really tell what you want to do until you experience these things which is why work experience has helped me and other people looking for a future in different areas.
I have been working in IT and marketing at the college which are very different jobs for instant my first day in IT I was fitting a solid state drive to a computer however in marketing I was doing the more moving jobs like checking names have been printed and going around the college for different people this for me shows I have defiantly learnt a lot and it has even helped me out whilst getting to check out the college and its facilities.
From the outside, college is just another building just like the rest so being on the inside and checking out what it has in stock whilst working with it has for sure helped me with my choices of where I would like to go in the future as well as what I would like to do as a job.
Overall the experience I have got out of Worthing College has improved my confidence whilst speaking to adults and teachers, being able to do jobs independently without the need of constant supervision and finally has given me an inside view of working at a school/college.
